Entering it’s second year after the huge success of the program in it’s inaugural year. United’s Jr Nike Academy program is for 2010 players only. This program is designed to provide opportunities for like minded players to train separately from their regular teams in preparation for United’s advanced programs when they become available in the fall of 2018.

The training’s focus will include improving all technical aspects of dribbling, passing, receiving, ball striking, 1v1 and 3v1 possession.

The training is conducted by United’s Nike Academy and Academy Directors of Coaching Barry Mantle and Danny Woolliscroft. The club will monitor the development of the players to help assist with player placement for future teams and programs.

Players interested in participating in this program should attend the following open practices: (free)

Friday, August 25th – boys are from 5.00 to 6.00pm and girls from 6.00 to 7.00pm

Saturday, August 26th – boys are from 9.00 to 10.00am and girls from 10.00 to 11.00am

Players that get identified through these practices and recommendations from team coaches will be invited to Jr Nike Academy practices for all 3 phases.

Phase two

The training program will continue over the winter period with an 7 week training program. Practices would be once a week during the week, times, dates and location TBD. A tournament team or teams could be created to play in our own Colorado Cup tournament.

Phase three

Spring program similar to the fall which would culminate in an end of spring season tournament.

This program is not designed to take players from their teams; it is to enhance the development of the player and help prepare them for the next level. Players in this program may get asked to play in a tournament or a winter league but will always return to their team for the fall and spring season ahead of the U9 program.

We currently have 8 Nike Academy teams from the 2009 birth year, 75% of those players attended the Jr. Nike Academy program training sessions last year. We believe this program was integral in helping those players develop their skills to prepare them for the next level of play.

Players interested in this program should have:

  • Ambition and love for the game of soccer
  • Desire to play with like minded players
  • Excited about taking their game to the next level
